Description of proposal
53.23 The application proposes a combined planning scheme amendment and planning permit application on surplus government land following completion of the Murrumbeena Road Level Crossing Removal Project and associated new Murrumbeena Railway Station. The proposal seeks redevelopment of the land for an eight storey mixed-use building with two levels of basement car parking. The building will provide ground level retail uses and activation to the Neerim Road frontage and adjoining railway corridor, with 110 dwellings on the upper levels. The application also seeks to rezone the site to the Commercial 1 Zone and remove the redundant Heritage Overlay – Schedule 132 following completion of the new Murrumbeena Railway Station. The application of the Commercial 1 Zone best reflects the intended use and development and the orderly planning of the immediate Murrumbeena Activity Centre in which the site is located in.
